We specialize in Binocular Vision Evaluations, Vision Therapy, and Sports Vision Training to help your child excel at school and sports.

Unlock your child's potential and give them the tools to succeed.

Does any of this sound familiar…

Your bright child excels in everything except school.

You feel there is a gap between potential and performance.

You notice your child experiences visual fatigue when they read.

20 minutes of homework takes hours and becomes a battle.

If so, there could be a vision problem.

Vision is much more than 20/20 or the ability to read letters on an eye chart at a distance of 20 feet, for as long as it takes.

Most children think that everyone sees the same way that they do.

So they don’t know to complain.

Our online vision symptom checklist will help you determine if there is a possible vision problem.

A child can pass a vision screening or wear glasses and may still have an undetected visual skills problem.

We help students with vision problems that impact performance in school and sports.

What makes us different

Our 21 point Binocular Vision Evaluation goes beyond a routine eye exam to test all the visual skills for reading and learning. Visual skills such as Eye Teaming, Eye Focusing and Eye Tracking are foundational to the reading process. In addition, our Visual Processing Evaluation helps to further determine if, or how much, visual processing (Visualization, Visual Memory, Laterality, Directionality) is contributing to poor reading comprehension and attention.

Dr. Allison Toler, OD FAAO, FCOVD has extensive training in Binocular Vision, Vision Therapy and Sports Vision Training. Dr. Toler is one of few optometrists Board Certified in vision development. As a parent, she understands first-hand the homework wars and just knew there was something holding her child back.

This is why Hope Vision Development Center focuses exclusively on Vision Therapy, Vision Rehabilitation, and Sports Vision Training for athletes at all levels. Our patients travel from Orlando, Clermont, Winter Garden, and Ocala. We are here to help!

Eye-Tracking Technology that helps get you answers.

“I have found that a symptom checklist is one of the best tools to uncover if visual skills are adversely impacting academic performance.”

How It Works

Step 1. Symptom Checklist

First, start with the online Symptom Checklist. Depending on your score, a Binocular Vision Evaluation may be your next step. While a prior eye exam is not required, if available, the exam records are helpful.

Step 2. Vision Evaluation(s)

Our 21 point Binocular Vision Evaluation and Visual Information Processing Evaluation go beyond a routine eye exam to test all the visual skills for reading and learning.

  1. Binocular Vision Evaluation (+/- 90 min) $275

  2. Information Processing Evaluation (+/- 60 min) $195

Our office is NOT a provider for any insurance plan. We will provide a statement you can submit for out of network reimbursement, if available on your plan.

Step 3. Doctor Conference

On a separate visit, you will meet with Dr. Toler to discuss the results, review the report, and determine treatment options. This conference is included in the fees already paid for the evaluation.

  • A routine eye exam tests for structural or physical impairments of the eyes, such as:

Disorders of the shape and length of the eyes: nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism - this is treated with glasses and/or contact lenses

Eye health - diseases of the eyes

A functional evaluation tests the coordination of:

The two eyes as a team (Binocular Vision)

The eye muscles for focusing (Accommodation)

The eye muscles for tracking (Ocular Motor)

A Visual Processing Evaluation tests the communication between the eyes and the brain and how well the brain can make sense of what is seen.

Disorders of the coordination of the eyes and eye muscles as well as visual processing by the brain seriously impact one’s ability to read and learn, regardless of needing glasses or having 20/20 vision.

  • Vision Therapy is an investment in your child’s future.
